The mission of the San Francisco Muslim Community Center (SFMCC) is to serve humanity by cultivating faith, unity, and moral excellence within the Muslim community, while extending our hand in service to the broader society. Guided by the universal principles of Islam, SFMCC works to preserve Islamic traditions, promote education, and foster understanding and cooperation among all people. Through social services, impactful programs, and public initiatives, we aim to uplift the human spirit, strengthen community bonds, and contribute to the advancement of a just and compassionate society.
A central space for communal, social, educational, cultural, athletic, health, legal, youth, religious and interfaith services to fill critical gaps in our community.
Strengthening Identity
Supporting youth and families from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, especially in the face of increasing islamophobia.
Interfaith Bridge
Creating a welcoming space where people of all faiths may share values and cultures, resolving misunderstandings and breaking stereotypes.
"And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are Signs for those who know." (Quran 30:22)
Equality of Cultural Representation
San Francisco's Legacy
San Francisco stands as a champion of diversity, creating policies that have made it a haven for minorities who have shaped its unique culture of understanding and tolerance.
While there are approximately 23 cultural centers in the city, the Muslim community lacks adequate representation despite having several masjids that have reached maximum capacity.
Our Community's Need
The Muslim community in San Francisco needs a venue for large gatherings such as Eid celebrations, which currently force families to either crowd into local masjids or travel to neighboring counties.
A dedicated community center would allow Muslims to fully participate in civic life while preserving their cultural and religious identity.

Muslim Presence in San Francisco
Muslims have been shaping the landscape of San Francisco for generations, from businesses to cultural landmarks. The city is home to several masjids, halal restaurants, markets, and even buildings with Islamic, Moorish, or Moorish Revival architecture like the historic Alcazar Theater with its Quranic calligraphy.
Our community center will build upon this rich heritage, creating a landmark that honors the past while serving the needs of present and future generations of San Francisco Muslims.
